The past which covers all time before our own was until the last few centuries viewed so differently that people rightly had no concept of evolution and the longevity of time. Accordingly the origin of humankind was judged to be as described by the elders and their scribes; the ultimate object designed by an eternal creator. To people today it might seem that we are not held back by such barriers to thought but nonetheless there are attitudinal, traditional and new-think attitudes that shape our views. Science, enlightened as it has the capacity to be, is not immune from this same restriction for its members are human.

Accordingly, the greatest ignorance of our time is still based around our perception of our place in the universe. This bias isn't an overt thing but a hidden set of values that make us smug about those gifts nature has bestowed on us. So we can be seduced into believing our cleverness can never be surpassed and it is us who now wil determine the beings that rule the universe. The reality is it is inevitable that the future will sideline mankind. Evolution doesn't stop with humans and our species has no guaranteed place as chief ruler of anything that matters.

It isn't that man has to disappear quickly if at all but we can be assured that within a million years from now evolution will still exist but mankind most probably will not. However evolution will not waste our existence since its future patterns will embrace the things that set us apart. It does so not by choice for choice is not involved, it is the perpetual presence of the pattern imprinted in the chromosome spiral that dictates the shape of life. And it is its innate ability to replicate, reform and surmount barriers that guarantees life will evolve. Maybe it will take place here on, earth, maybe in the lineage of humankind but neither of these options is essential to the progress of evolution in the universe.

To even partially replicate the power inherent in the chromosomal spiral is difficult as it has a degree of complexity requiring mathematics that unifies modern group and field theories. Despite it being more complex than the engineering implicit in a Rubik Cube nature has accomplished this at least once before. It is unlikely that chance can lead to such a spectacular singularity and it is therefore probable that its like will be found to be repeated throughout the expanse and duration of the universe.

Our species like many others is turned towards the past and in our case it is accompanied by feelings of superiority. Our history is dogged with actions that assume everything else that exists is below our race. Even other humans have been branded inferior and that still happens today. But there is another way, another more essential view that allows humankind to reach a greater potential. Humans are part of the chain of evolution and that which follows comes about because we are a link in the progress towards greater awareness and not the summit of its perfection.

Such a prospect is worthy of scientific consideration but it also offers great reward for those of religious faith. I believe it is inevitable that awareness of the universe will continue to expand through nature's modes of constructive evolution and not by the manipulations of our species. But the logic of this process means it is probable awareness will continue to improve its mastery of time and move beyond enhanced memory towards enhanced prescience.

 

Many species already have the ability to employ the future. Reaction times are one of the evolutionary paths to this end. But so too is knowledge and awareness of the workings of the universe. We know the sun will come up tomorrow and that it will burn brightly for billions of years to come. We know these things beyond the understanding of most other creatures that exist today but we will be surpassed by things that can master the paths of time. If this is so then future time being so vast will inevitably evolve creatures that willingly or involuntarily reach back to us.  However we with the poorer senses may not recognise this even though their influence would then be present in our current world.

In this scenario inspirations will appear, unreasonable jumps in understanding will materialise without there being any contradiction in the laws of time. But we know these mysteries already it is only their origin that we question.

There is a form of patterning that places our understanding of the universe upon a different plane to that of our our own parent's time. It is the concept of fractals that takes us away from the mentally crippling idea of a mechanical, absolute view to one that offers a better understanding of the operations that have brought everything into being.

It is not by chance that mathematics and nature create such similarities for they both rely on boundary properties and all the external and internal forces that interplay within it. Space is not a blank canvas but a unique diaphragm imprinted for the possible. And it is through such subtle effects as shadow patterns that memory has something on which to build and evolution the means to incorporate what seems the work of craftsmen. This mechanism is the bridge between chance and design since boundaries shape the patterns formed by random acts within any enclosure. And the evidence of this bridge is all around us to be seen whenever you look at the clouds, the stars, ripples in the sand, the sea or any other bounded system.

Fractals offer a sort of definition, imprecise in its detail but very precise in its structures. It is an understanding fully in keeping with the quantum world and the processes essential to evolution. Fractal shapes are not determined by a single event nor is there a tie to time, it is the transformation of scattered random events through their accumulative statistical effects.

It is this uncertain certainty that guarantees the emergence of a species of being with superior powers to any existent in the current world.

Although there is imprecision as to what will emerge the past resolutions by nature guide us as to its probable parameters. It will be based on a sense already present but will expose new dimensions. It will find the radical structures that deliver the expansion of this power. How can we be so sure? Because it is only success that shows in the universe and there is an unbroken trail of such events from the time of its origin. Although it may seem purposeful this is an illusion built upon its being there at all for the pattern cannot but be what it is.

The scheme that allows the laws of time to hold while permitting the future to affect the past is likely to utilise a positive feedback loop. This implies a small part of the future is fed back to the past in a form that amplifies the signal. This system remains stable while the boundaries of the system have elastic properties that are not overreached. It is a form of resonance and it is not confined to mechanical or electronic systems for it is common in biological systems.

Your body constantly uses feedback loops to regulate your personal evolution from seed to aged adult. Your organs regulate your internal environment by the same mechanism.

In each case past and future are one plastering a path over the unitary nature of time which forms the basis of the current human experience of that dimension. What exists is a systemic harmony operating as an  overlay to linear time.

So if this mechanism is the means then the present has relevant bits of the future in-built into the fabric of our day with this being the seed that links to the future. The two, past and future experience, only exist because both individually exist; the loop being there establishes it as a pre-deterministic inevitability.

But a feature of great importance to feedback systems is that many feedback loops are involuntary systems.They act without obvious control from the  structures such as living things in which they occur. This is likely to be true of the future development of awareness which would imply that neither the future being nor the individuals to whom that creature has access would necessarily be aware of the presence of the other. Any registration would be at the emotional interface of well-being or unease.

And the path by which the link is maintained is the content of the DNA passed from one generation to another.

Awareness is one of our gifts but like that of speech if it isn't exercised its utility is constrained.

Awareness shouldn't be taken for granted for to do so means you miss its future. But in order to appreciate what the future holds we need to cherish our past and the mystery of there having been a vast reach of time in which it seemed the universe existed and evolved with nothing able to know that it was there at all. Then consider where we are, us humans, a species of apes who consider themselves the current pinnacle of the evolutionary chain. Consider the constraints that have limited other species in their appreciation of the universe and know that our special gifts too will one day be surpassed. And we will remain unknowing of that which has evolved beyond the ripples it leaves upon our lives. Each step of evolution suffers the mysteries surrounding more advanced life and time destines that each mystery grows until we are no more.

And yet we can have some clues about our own limitations. We know 'survival of the fittest' is a prime driver of evolution which mandates that the senses which give us awareness of the environment are the major element for future evolution. But the element of awareness has also evolved in parallel with the senses and will continue to do so.

So we can know that awareness is not just a concept, it is a tool, a reality that seems to have no rational place in a mechanistic universe. And as awareness inevitably evolves there are always new aspects that remain unknown to beings in different parts of the evolutionary chain. So a dog doesn't know that colour exists and a tree has no idea of human emotions nor of different lands. And we in turn cannot know of senses yet to emerge as life evolves beyond that which makes us human. This is our mystery and it is one whose paradox tears at the fabric of humankind.
 

Awareness: the master sense of our future.

The secret to understanding our future begins with an understanding of awareness and its evolution. Awareness relies on the evolutionary mechanism of memory for escaping the momentary existence that time delivers to the spatial universe. It exploits the continuity unifying space and time to build a bridge between time past, time to come and the reality of the instant.

Like life awareness has evolved and it may be part of life or may be a parallel aspect of the universe that has bonded with the process that has brought us to where we stand. Whatever its status is we are beings able to look at both and admire all that brought us here.

 

The human relationship with awareness is profound but like all things familiar it is abused, taken for granted and twisted to the individual needs. There is a form of awareness common to living forms that bestows the gift of communion with their surrounds. It began with physio-chemical actions alone that changed the habits of those beings but they didn't know the gift of awe and wonder or have any enjoyment at all of the spectacular chance that placed them there. Then evolution added touch and smell, memory and fear as life learnt its place within its environmental frame but still there was no awe, no feeling of a place made by forces unknown. And experiences of being alive, are not isolated to animals with each branch of life whether they be plants, insects, microbes bestowed with its own peculiar form of awareness.

 

It is awareness evolved beyond the previous norms that gives our race attributes of religion, speech, inspiration, mysticism and reason. But our past has been dominated by a misunderstanding of awareness that misdirects our appreciation. Awareness is in reality a sense of similar dimensions to all the others that unite us with our environment. However it is more advanced than that of hearing, touch or smell but still in essence it is a sense betowed on man that also has an evolutionary past. But it is a sense so far evolved that its very presence tears at the fabric of our being mortal. We yearn and ache beyond our station of beings destined to die and in that state of human distress the worst of us can emerge.

ALIEN life is behind the mysteries of the universe, according to a radical new theory.Ancient non-human life forms morphed into the physical world and are the driving force behind mind-boggling quantum physics and phenomena like dark matter, according to a Columbia University astrophysicist.

The expert says our universe is the remains of intelligent alien life which controls all aspects of the physical world — from gravity to the speed of light.

My ideas are in line with this but go further and suggest that this phenomenon is a result of evolution reaching a stage where beings are able to stretch their influence back through the ages. My primary premise is that no matter how long it takes ever enhanced sensory capabilities will be a likely outcome of the evolutionary chain. Such beings will be more omnipresent than forms so far evolved but their ability to be created offers a rational basis for future but limited influence on all previous aspects of evolution of the cosmos. It is the Ouroboros of ancient times, the serpent dragon that turns to eat its own tail.
